Counting Parts... 12/12/02 - I began parts inventory this evening and while I found one disappointing item, the overall completeness and quality of the kit is very impressive. Of course, I'd heard this from other builders, but when it's your own investment, you want first hand knowledge...and that's what I have today. The packing list is very detailed and each item has a part label attached containing item number, description, quantity and priority number. Individual small parts are in sealed poly-bags (such as a single nut, etc.) and counting is a breeze, although a time consuming breeze. Larger items such as seat cushions, interior panels, closeouts, etc. are all wrapped in brown Kraft (type) paper. I opened each for inspection, re-closed and clear-taped over the part labels so I wouldn't lose any labels in the months ahead (hoping to make my parts finding missions a little easier). On to my disappointment of the evening...when I got to the radiator box, I noticed that one end of the box had two sets of staple holes, but only one set of staples. I opened the box and the foam packaging was missing on the end I'd just opened. I removed the radiator and saw a deep dent. On close inspection, it appears that the dent goes to the coil:
The box was (and is) 100% undamaged, so the crush-damage had to happen at the manufacturer's place or the item was re-boxed, but it'll be awhile before I need this obviously and I sent an email with photos attached to Rans on Friday asking what they wanted to do. I'm pretty sure they'll make it right...I'll be sure to let you know, but speaking of Rans Customer Service, I did receive my FIRST shipment of backordered items (Strobe/Nav Light Kit)! After a couple of hours standing in one spot, I pooped out for the evening with maybe 25% of the work done. More later... |
