First things first...

12/11/02 - After uncrating the kit last evening, I was planning to start a parts inventory tonight, but similar to the way things sometimes go at work, something else had to be done first...a clear case of the 'cart before the horse' syndrome that will cause me to have to redo work down the line if I don't keep that in mind.

I finished dismantling the shipping crate, except for the base, which I plan to use as a workstation on which to construct the wings, do fabric work, etc.  The base measures a full 4' deep X 16' long.  I am going to attach hinge points at 4 places and hang it on the side wall so that I can swing it out of the way when not in use.  I'm hoping to get the workstation built and installed this coming Sunday.

After I finished scabbing all the lumber from the crate I could use, carrying the rest outside, stacking, covering and cleaning up the rest of the shop (it's a mess now, we worked in the rain last night getting the crate into the garage and the floor is pretty grubby looking) it was time for dinner.

I also cobbled up a pretty decent MS Excel based timekeeping log which contains a whole year's worth of time and notes at a glance (and -that- took another hour!).

The only thing 'parts-wise' I -did- look at was the instrument panel.  For some reason, when I awoke this morning, I couldn't recall unpacking it last evening (mostly because I didn't, Jeff must have unpacked it). I had ordered it punched and powder coated and I was anxious to see what it looked like....it's pretty neat!

Ok, inventory starts tomorrow...really!
