Elevators covered...

08/31/03 - Today, I was able to cover both elevators after a bit of a detour to remove some RIVETED-ON hardware...DOH!  ;^)

Not much commentary today, just a few photos to show the work was completed, starting where I left off yesterday after covering the bottom side of the left elevator:

Here's the builder painting along the trim line, trying to paint a straight line:

Left elevator covered, ready for the iron:

Covered and ready for the bag:

My detour occurred here when I had to remove three brackets (for trim tab and cable) held in place by  3/16" rivets.  After removing the cable bracket, I had to take out two more 1/8" Stainless Steel rivets in order to remove the 3/16" mandrels from within the tube, otherwise I'd have a rattling elevator for the rest of its career!:

Wrapping the right elevator for bottom side final trim:

Bottom side covered and ready to shrink the edges:

After first pass with the iron to take out any edge wrinkles:

Topside covered and the elevator has now been through three passes with the iron and is ready for the bag also:

So far, I'm on schedule for the weekend, but I may take tomorrow (Labor Day) off and not do any labor at all!  We'll see...

More updates soon...
