Wings...leading edge wrap, topside root skin

07/12/03 - Ok...I still have a pretty bad case of tendonitis in my left elbow, but I managed to work for a few hours today and was able to get the leading edge wrap and topside root skin installed (drilled and clecoed) on the right side wing structure.

Here are a few photos of the task...(I would have gotten more done today, but I lost 2-1/2 hours right in the middle of the work day to take care of personal business, haircut, etc.):

First off, I had to trim a WHOLE SIXTEENTH OF AN INCH from the end of my second LE Wrap!  It's kinda hard to see in this photo, but it's there...well, it's not there, but laying on the floor after I cut it off!  :^)

Wrap has been trimmed and clecoed in place, ready for riveting:

Part of my trekking around in the middle of the day today was to pick up bar clamps so I could properly tension the wrap (and of course, it works just as Rans suggests!):

Wrap is tensioned and now riveted on tip end and #10 & #11 ribs are drilled and clecoed:

Remaining ribs drilled and clecoed:

Topside root skin drilled, stiffeners clecoed in, getting ready to drill ribs:

Ribs and trailing edge spar drilled (TE Spar only gets two rivets with the balance of the root skin being epoxy-bonded to the spar):

And, that's what 5-1/2 hours worth of Saturday time looks like around here!  I will remove the skin in order to clean out any drill debris and then debur the holes, install the forward stiffener, install another set of fuel lines and THEN put it back together in a more permanent fashion (maybe tomorrow!).

More updates soon...
