Horizontal Stabilizers... 04/17/03 - I was able to spend the entire day in the shop today and after I finished the aft baggage compartment installation, made considerable progress on the horizontal stabilizers during the process! A bit of fun construction today on the horizontal stabilizers requiring lots of drilling, deburring and riveting. I'm happy I did this section before beginning work on the wings as it surely gave me a good experience in this aspect of the construction and assembly process. A few shots of the completed baggage compartment door and frame:
Parts are picked and laid out for the horizontal stabilizers:
Right side with gussets clecoed in place:
Next, you gotta see if it fits:
Left side stabilizer hung in place:
and with both stabilizers in place, it's starting to look like a tail section!
