Vertical Stabilizer... 04/16/03 - I left off on Monday with the vertical stabilizer ribs uninstalled and today, I was able to complete that task and another small item I had been waiting to fix. Sometime ago, I installed the aft baggage compartment and the associated door frame and when I pre-fit the door frame, I misread the instructions and cut 'just a bit too much' out of the forward corner (it's a tri-angular frame with the forward corner falling on the centerline of the station 3 vertical tube). Ed at Rans told me what I could to do fix the error and when the 6" x 6" sheet of .035 aluminum arrived on Tuesday, I decided to give it a try. I fabricated a small section and installed it under the existing door frame and you can scarcely tell the patch isn't part of the original! The door frame is going to be covered by the fabric in any case, but I'm still satisfied with my fix (Thanks, Ed!). I rolled the Coyote out into the drive in order to set a flight profile and see if my placement on the vertical stabilizer ribs was going to be acceptable, then installed the ribs. A few photos follow of my Wednesday work. Ribs in place:
