Bubble Doors finished...

...and PHASE ONE IS NOW COMPLETE!!!!

04/13/03 - Well, it's about time!  ;^)  Today, I have officially completed the first phase of the construction and assembly process, according to the manual.  I have 110 hours in the project to date.

That probably means I'm 25% finished with 90% left to go...

Rans supplies builders with a set of very detailed instructions consisting of a Parts Manual and an Assembly Manual. Included in the Assembly Manual is a flow chart describing the process a builder might want to follow (obviously, you can work the project as you like, but as a FIRST TIMER, I'll take all the help I can get) so I try to follow the suggested method and after today, the flow chart pushes the work flow to a completely new path!

This is very much where I wanted to be project wise, because I have the next week off from work and can reasonably spend as much time as I like over the coming period.

I do have a couple of other VERY IMPORTANT things scheduled, like a fishing trip with my 75 year old dad and whatever lawn work I feel like doing, but for the most part I wanted to start my vacation week beginning on the control surfaces section.

I'll begin this next section working on the vertical stabilizer and other tail surfaces, then on to the ailerons, wings, etc. and still hope to begin fabric work around May 15 - June 1.

I mentioned yesterday that I had just a bit of work to finish on the pilot side door assembly and that was accomplished in just about an hour today AFTER Marilyn and I returned home from our trip taking Alyssa to the zoo.  Today was much fun and Alyssa just loved the trip!!!  Sorry, but I've inserted a couple photos of her first zoo visit too with my usual.

Finished pilot side door (it only needed the handles assembled and installed, but it's done!):

and the requisite zoo photos:

Thanks for your patience and we now return you to the project.

More updates soon...
