Covering and assembling seats...

02/09/03 - Today, I completed the second seat assembly, installed the cushions and did a final pre-fit on the seats.

I have a couple of in-process photos showing the job, starting with the bottom cushion again:

Here are a couple of photos with the seats installed:

The seat backs fold forward for front baggage area access and the seat bottoms lift up for access to the position links and another bit of storage area below.

Of course, after getting to this point you'd normally jump in and see how the seats feel, but I resisted the urge and promptly REMOVED both seats and all interior panels and stored them for final installation.

After I'd removed the interior, I was able to replace the right upper aileron pulley which Ed at Rans had previously sent a replacement for (the original had a 'ding' in one side and I was 'askeered' of using it).

I also removed the Elevator Push Pull Tube Assembly and removed the powder coating on the aft 12" of the tube because I had been getting a bit of stickiness when moving the control stick fore and aft.  On reinstallation with the powder coating gone and a bit of white lithium grease in it's place, there is no longer any resistance in the stick.  Thanks again for the tip, Ed!

I've got just about 55 hours of assembly and construction time in so far and the Rans website says average build time on an S-6S Coyote II is between 350 and 500 hours.  Do you think it looks like I'm 11% finished?

I believe I'll start on the control surfaces next.  This should be exciting...

More updates soon...
