Control sticks and aileron cable control assembly...

01/05/03 - Today I continued work on the control stick assembly installation.  This went together quite easily.  LOTS of photos today!

Here are a couple of 'after' shots on the control stick assembly:

The next item is the Control Tee, which is mounted to the top of the cockpit cage and attaches to the aileron cable assembly via turnbuckles.  There is a flanged bearing assembly which is fabricated and riveted to the Control Tee.

Here are a couple of the 'in-process' shots of the Control Tee assembly:

Next, you fabricate the Aileron Pulley assemblies from parts (Mmmmm...looks like a mechanical meal!):

A couple of pre-fit shots of the cable pulley assemblies:

The installed cable assembly looks like this:

After installation, you check for proper alignment, check cabling for friction areas, etc. and then make any necessary adjustments so the cable tension is right.

I stopped here because I found an area where the cables are rubbing the frame at the aft seat cross brace.  I sent an email with photos to Rans Tech Support and I'm sure Ed at Rans will let me know what I've done wrong...probably just a routing issue.

Here's a shot of the area:

More updates soon...
