On to the firewall... 01/01/03 - This afternoon, I began the next assembly area, the firewall. This was simple enough, clamping, measuring, drilling and finally got to use my CLECOS! Mackenzie was my 'hanger dog' for the afternoon, Mirfy was too busy barking at anything moving...a few photos follow. Double checking height on S-1 Top Former Tube at 26-7/8":

I was getting ready to bend and fit the forward contour formers (roughly triangular sheet metal sections which are bent to fit along the bottom side edges running from firewall aft along the diagonal tubes at the base of the fuselage) when I had to stop and post a question to my Rans Builder buds about which way to orient the long edge of the contour formers (in or out, the manual doesn't say). I -must- be getting smarter...at least I'm asking the questions BEFORE doing something more than one time! :) More updates soon... |
